AS WITHIN, SO WITHOUT
Are you upset these days by what is going on out there in the world? Well, no surprise. You cannot turn on the TV or look on Facebook without being told of the latest crisis, the latest injustice occurring in our government and in the world. Yes, we should most definitely be upset. And we should be motivated to want to “right” the wrongs and make lives better.
But it is necessary to look inside ourselves before we start pointing fingers at what is going on outside of us. The world is not in the state it is in strictly because of the politicians doing what they are doing. We are all personally invested and personally responsible for what is showing up in the mass consciousness because it is intimately connected to our own personal consciousness.
Do you want peace? Do you want universal love and goodwill? Then look within to see if that is the way you are living your own life. What is happening “out there” is due, in large part, to what is happening “in here” - within our own hearts and minds. It’s easy to blame those who are currently in power, though I do not in any way exonerate or excuse their choices and actions. But what if they are showing up at this time in human history to point out exactly what needs to change within each of us before it can change in the world at large?
I’m not suggesting we stop signing petitions, stop writing letters, stop showing up at protests. I’m not suggesting we say, “Oh well, there is nothing I can do about that.” There most certainly is something we can do. And it is a very effective way to go about effecting change. We can change the way we look at those whose actions we condemn, because inside of them, just as within each of us, exists a DIVINE SPARK that is God, that is goodness, that is love. If all we ever look for is “bad”, then that is surely all we will ever find … whether that is within ourselves or whether it is within someone else. What is happening “out there” is simply a reflection of what is going on within each of us every day. We change the world when we change ourselves. “As within so without” the saying goes.
